Minority radiologic technology students are invited to apply for five scholarships, totaling $20,000, funded by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Applications are currently available for the first round of entry-level students. The $4,000 scholarships will be based on academic achievement and financial need, the ASRT said.
An application packet can be obtained by e-mailing [email protected], or by writing to the Royce Osborn Minority Student Scholarship, ASRT Education and Research Foundation, 15000 Central Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123.
The scholarship is named after Royce Osborn, the first African-American president of the ASRT. Osborn was appointed chief radiologic technologist in 1955 at Flint-Goodrich Hospital, an all-black institution in New Orleans. He served as president of the ASRT in 1969. Osborn died in 1997.
