ASRT survey reveals what RTs like about their jobs

Prestige, cleanliness, and safety are three factors that contribute to a radiologic technologist’s job satisfaction, according to the latest survey by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.

The goal of the ASRT survey was to gain a better understanding of how RTs view their workplace, according to Richard Harris, Ph.D., director of ASRT research. The results of 876 responses were analyzed, and six attributes affected how an RT rated his or her job. They are:

  • Working for a well-known facility.

  • Working in a safe environment.

  • Working in a properly maintained building.

  • Using good equipment.

  • Having adequate support staff.

  • Having the ability to direct one’s career.

The survey was sent to both administrators and technologists, with the former group reporting a higher level of satisfaction. The RTs expressed less satisfaction with the amount of time they could spend with patients and the amount of respect they felt they received on the job.
