The subcommittee on health of the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee has scheduled a hearing on June 8 to discuss proposed legislation that would establish federal education and certification standards for healthcare providers of radiology-related services.
Representatives for the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) will testify about the appropriateness and need to pass HR 2104, the Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility, and Excellence (CARE) in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy bill.
Introduced in June 2011 by Reps. Ed Whitfield (R-KY) and John Barrow (D-GA), the CARE bill currently has 123 co-sponsors.
The hearing will be broadcast live at energycommerce.house.gov, starting at 10 a.m. EDT.
