The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has named Jonathan Mazal and the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists (OSRT) as the recipients of its 2013 ASRT Award for Outstanding Grassroots Advocacy.
The annual award, which was established by the society in 2003, recognizes one ASRT member and one affiliate society for their outstanding legislative efforts on behalf of the radiologic science community.
Mazal is a member of the ASRT Grassroots Network and also serves on the ASRT Committee on RT Advocacy. He has also participated in a number of RT in DC advocacy events to educate lawmakers about the Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility, and Excellence (CARE) in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy bill, ASRT said.
OSRT has also worked hand in hand with ASRT throughout the years to secure support for the CARE bill, and the society focused its efforts in the 112th Congress on securing CARE bill supporters, ASRT said. The bill finished the session with nine co-sponsors.
