The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has partnered with medical imaging professional and actor, Michael Benzaia, for its new "Be Seen" campaign to raise public awareness about the role of medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals in patient diagnosis, intervention, and treatment.
Benzaia, who is known for his on-screen medical professional roles in shows such as "General Hospital," "How to Get Away with Murder," "Law & Order," and "The Blacklist," has also worked as a radiographer and CT technologist. Benzaia entered the medical imaging field after first experiencing the world of radiology while accompanying his mother to medical appointments, according to the society.
Medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals often don't receive the recognition they deserve, said Dr. Melissa Pergola, ASRT CEO and executive director in a statement.
