Radiology exhibit says farewell to Mouse House

The $4.5 million exhibit, "Radiology: Medicine’s New Vision," will end its four-year run at Disney World’s Epcot Center in Orlando, FL. The RSNA Board of Directors voted to close the exhibit when the contract with Disney expires in September.

In a report to the board, Dr. R. Gilbert Jost, RSNA board liaison for communications and corporate relations, recommended that the 3,500-square-foot exhibit be used in other venues. The RSNA’s Public Communications Committee will look into the possibility of breaking the exhibit up into smaller segments, he said.

Opened in 1999, the exhibit cost the RSNA and other radiology organizations $1 million each year to run, in addition to the $4.5 million required to build it. The exhibit, which highlighted radiology technology, saw about 12,000 visitors a week, according to the RSNA.
