The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) has launched an effort to ensure its exams are secure, the association said.
The ARRT is encouraging educators to review any unfamiliar materials prior to classroom use to ensure that the materials don't subvert the integrity of the association's radiation therapy examination.
Last year, the ARRT won a settlement against an exam preparation course that copied questions from the test and included them in its review materials: RTR Review had offered money to candidates who had sat for the exam in exchange for disclosing questions, according to the ARRT.
The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California ruled in favor of ARRT, authorizing the association to seize the assets of RTR Review to satisfy the $250,000 court judgment. The settlement also calls for RTR Review to identify anyone who provided exam information for their materials; the ARRT plans to investigate them, it said.
