ACR picks 6 rads for RLI board

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has announced the names of six private practice and academic radiologists selected to serve on the board of directors for its recently formed Radiology Leadership Institute (RLI).

The ACR announced the formation of the institute on August 16 as radiology's first professional development and leadership academy. The members of the board are as follows:

  • Dr. Cynthia Sherry is the medical director of RLI and chair of the ACR Commission on Leadership and Practice Development. Sherry is also the chair of the radiology department at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

  • Dr. Cheri Canon is a professor and the chair of radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Canon is currently chair of the ACR Commission on Education and serves on the ACR Board of Chancellors, as well as the education advisory board for the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology (AIRP).

  • Dr. Arl Van Moore Jr. is president of Charlotte Radiology in Charlotte, NC. He is former chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors and the ACR Task Force on International Teleradiology.

  • Dr. Lawrence Muroff is CEO and president of Imaging Consultants. Muroff is also a clinical professor of radiology at the University of Florida and the University of South Florida.

  • Dr. Alexander Norbash is a professor and the chairman of the department of radiology at Boston University.

  • Dr. Geoffrey Rubin is the chairman of the department of radiology at Duke University and radiologist-in-chief at Duke University Hospital.

The board members will work with RLI faculty, the ACR's education department staff, and other experts to develop the RLI curriculum. The institute's inaugural event is July 12-15, 2012, at Northwestern University's Evanston, IL, campus, according to the ACR.
