ASRT debuts new online educational series

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has introduced Sectional Anatomy Essentials, an online educational tool designed to improve clinical competence.

Sectional Anatomy Essentials illustrates the location and function of the human body's major anatomical structures, according to ASRT. Written by two radiologists and a radiologist assistant, the series comprises nine modules and features interactive animation sequences that allow users to access CT and MR images that provide anatomical detail of the body's various structures, ASRT said.

The first module covers the evolution and future uses of diagnostic medical imaging equipment, planes of the body, external landmarks and major body cavities, organs and systems, and joint classification. Subsequent modules examine the cranium and facial bones, brain, spine, neck, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, and extremities, according to the society.

The modules are all approved for Category A continuing education (CE) credit and are accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Radiologic technologists who successfully complete all modules will earn 11.5 CE credits and receive a document from ASRT recognizing their achievement.

In addition, ASRT also offers a non-CE credit institutional version for administrators, managers, and educators who would like to use the series for educational purposes. This package includes nine modules, a 209-question test bank, transcripts, an image library, and a license for unlimited use in the classroom or institutional setting, ASRT said.
