Not only does AI-based MRI reconstruction enhance image quality and diagnostic confidence, but patients like it too, according to this scientific paper.
Patricia Carrascosa, MD, PhD, of Diagnóstico Maipú in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and colleagues compared the results of different reconstruction approaches on exams obtained from a 3-tesla MRI scanner. AI-based image reconstruction technology was performed first, followed by an additional sequence without AI assistance. With AI-based reconstruction, scan times decreased by approximately 50%.
AI was the clear winner.
“The integration of AI-powered image reconstruction in MRI significantly enhanced image quality and diagnostic confidence, demonstrating high sensitivity and specificity,” the authors wrote in their abstract. “Additionally, AI-driven acceleration led to a substantial reduction in scan duration, improving patient comfort and overall experience. These findings highlight the clinical value of AI in MRI, optimizing workflow efficiency while maintaining high diagnostic performance.”
You can delve further into the results by attending this presentation on Wednesday at McCormick Place.
