Marconi divests image-guided surgery business

Marconi Medical Systems has sold its image-guided surgery assets to Z-KAT, a Hollywood, FL-based provider of software and robotic technologies for use in orthopedic and neurological surgery. The sale reflects Marconi's desire to concentrate on imaging and information systems, according to the Cleveland-based vendor.

Meanwhile, Z-KAT says the purchase brings it a step closer to building a complete suite of image-guided technologies for the modern operating room. Z-KAT receives Marconi’s ViewPoint and Voyager systems, which are available for a variety of applications, including neurosurgery, orthopedics, and ear-nose-throat procedures.
