Artificial intelligence (AI) software developer Aidoc said that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has permitted its algorithms to be used as an adjunctive tool for incidental detection of COVID-19 on CT exams and triaging of these cases for priority review by radiologists.
Specifically, the software detects and prioritized incidental findings -- such as ground-glass opacification -- associated with COVID-19 in any CT study that contains the lung or part of the lung, according to the vendor. These would include chest, abdomen, or cervical spine exams, for example, Aidoc said.
