Interventional-device manufacturer C.R. Bard reported fourth-quarter net sales of $331.7 million, up 10% compared with the $302.8 million posted in the same period last year. For the quarter (end-December 31), the Murray Hill, NJ-based vendor had net income of $46.6 million, compared with net income of $39.3 million (including pre-tax goodwill amortization of $3.3 million).
For 2002, Bard had net sales of $1.274 billion, up 8% compared with the $1.181 billion reported in 2001. The firm had net income of $155 million, compared with 2001 net income of $143.2 million (including pre-tax goodwill amortization of $13.2 million). Chairman and CEO William Longfield said that Bard's fourth-quarter results reflect the fundamental health of its business and provide an indicator for 2003 performance.
