Interventional firm C.R. Bard reported 2004 fiscal third-quarter net sales of $421.9 million, up 17% compared with $361.8 million posted in the same quarter last year.
For the period (end-September 30), the Murray Hill, NJ-based vendor had net income of $102.4 million, a 99% increase compared with net income of $51.5 million a year ago.
Included in the firm's third-quarter 2004 results were certain items that increased net income by $33.8 million. This includes a gain of $30.8 million (after tax) related to the previously announced sale of Bard's endoscopic technologies division.
Excluding the items comprising the $33.8 million one-time gain, the company's net income increased 33% compared with the third quarter of 2003, the company said.
