KU Health, BAMF Health to build adult-pediatric theranostics hub

The University of Kansas Health System, the University of Kansas Medical Center, Children's Mercy, and BAMF Health plan to establish an integrated theranostics platform serving both adult and pediatric patients in Kansas City.

The collaboration will combine radiopharmaceutical production, molecular imaging, radiopharmaceutical therapy, and radioligand clinical trials in a single facility. The University of Kansas Cancer Center currently offers theranostic treatments for certain types of metastatic prostate cancer and neuroendocrine cancer. The new platform will expand access across additional diseases and patient populations, the organizations said.

Children's Mercy is among the first pediatric health systems to invest in theranostics, as the approach has to date been used almost exclusively in adult care, according to the four organizations. BAMF Health, which describes its platform as a first-in-world fully integrated commercial model, will contribute its radiopharmacy and clinical research infrastructure to the partnership, it said.
