Siemens Medical Solutions and gamma camera developer Gamma Medica of Northridge, CA, have signed an agreement giving Siemens exclusive U.S. marketing rights for Gamma Medica’s molecular imaging product, X-SPECT. The Malvern, PA-based vendor plans to market the imaging system to hospitals, universities, and pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
The product is a second-generation dual-modality system in Gamma Medica’s MicroSPECT product line, designed for pre-clinical, small animal imaging. The X-SPECT system combines SPECT with CT, and is similar to clinical systems, but on a smaller scale and with dedicated features suited to the in vivo imaging of mice and other small animals in a laboratory setting. The systems are primarily used in the study of disease processes and for drug development.
