Breast cancer interventional device company SenoRx of Aliso Viejo, CA, has debuted a battery-powered gamma detection probe for intraoperative lymph node mapping.
The device, manufactured by medical device developer World of Medicine inGröbenzell, Germany, is a cordless handheld probe that detects and gives a numerical indication and an acoustic signal when close to a gamma ray-emitting source such as those used in sentinel node mapping and other oncologic procedures, according to SenoRx. The product has received 510(k) clearance in the U.S. and the CE Mark in Europe, SenoRx said.
