Philips expands Lenox Hill partnership, debuts SPECT/CT preclinical research unit

Philips Medical Systems and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City have signed a two-year research agreement to co-develop cardiovascular interventional technologies.

The Andover, MA-based vendor and Lenox Hill, which have partnered for 15 years, will focus research on a new image processing algorithm and how it can be used with Philips' Allura Xper FD10 cath lab. In addition, researchers will evaluate the firm's StentBoost tool, which allows clinicians to see stents in greater detail, Philips said.

In other news, Philips and partner ImTek have debuted MicroCat, a dual-modality SPECT/CT imaging system for preclinical research. The system is being showcased at this week's annual meeting of the Academy of Molecular Imaging in Orlando, FL. The first unit is expected to be installed in April.
