Philips Medical Systems has entered into a long-term research agreement with the University of Chicago Hospitals. Through 2005, the Bothell, WA-based company will install an array of imaging equipment at several hospitals, including a 40-slice CT scanner, MRI scanners, diagnostic X-ray systems, nuclear medicine equipment, and medical information and image processing technology.
The hospitals -- the Bernard Mitchell Hospital and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine are two -- will serve as a national Philips reference site. Currently, investigations are being done on computer-aided detection (CAD) in breast and lung cancer.
