Biodex raises shielding options

Biodex Medical Systems has introduced new shielding products for radioimmunotherapy procedures using the Bexxar radiopharmaceutical. A dose-preparation system consisting of a specially designed syringe shield, vial shield, and stand is used to prepare a Bexxar dose, according to the Shirley, NY-based firm.

Biodex's shipping system transports a single-unit-dose pig that houses the 60-cc syringe containing the Bexxar dose, while the firm's injection-pump shield reduces exposure during injection of radionuclides that require a very slow infusion protocol, such as Bexxar, Biodex said.
