Scientific instrument manufacturer Varian, Inc. this week completed its acquisition of Magnex Scientific of Oxford, U.K.
Magnex designs and manufactures MRI magnets, and is a supplier of vertical high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) magnets, superconducting magnets for Fourier transform mass spectroscopy (FT-MS), and MR microscopy gradients.
According to Palo Alto, CA-based Varian, the Magnex acquisition will help advance the company's drive into MR imaging and, correspondingly, its growth in the areas of pharmaceutical and medical research. Magnex will be operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Varian, Inc.
