Imaging technology developer Gamma Medica of Northridge, CA, has introduced an upgrade to its LumaGEM 3200S breast imaging camera, the LumaGEM 3200S/12k.
The LumaGEM 3200S/12k is a solid-state gamma camera using cadmium zinc telluride crystals. With its smaller crystals, the system offers a better than 40% improvement in camera spatial resolution than that delivered by the original 3200S, released two years ago, according to the company.
In February, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, will be the first institution to receive the LumaGEM 3200/12k, and the clinic will evaluate the system's ability to improve the sensitivity of molecular breast imaging for the detection of small lesions.
