AMIC to begin isotope production

Medical isotope developer Advanced Medical Isotope (AMIC) has installed a compact linear accelerator to provide isotope production capabilities in North America.

The Pulsar isotope production system from AccSys Technology of Pleasanton, CA, will be used to produce isotopes such as fluorine-18, nitrogen-13, carbon-11, and oxygen-15 for diagnostic as well as therapeutic applications, according to the Kennewick, WA-based firm. It can also be used to produce actinium-225, iodine-123, and indium-111, AMIC said.

Production is scheduled to begin at AMIC's Kennewick production facility, with plans for additional production facilities scheduled in the coming months, according to the company.
