Imaging software developer Syntermed of Atlanta has licensed new software for performing nuclear cardiology studies from Emory University, also of Atlanta.

The software uses multiharmonic phase analysis (MHPA) to determine which heart failure patients will benefit from cardiac resynchronization therapy. The software is designed to be an improvement over tissue Doppler imaging echocardiography and was developed by Emory medical scientists Ernest Garcia, Ph.D., and Ji Chen, Ph.D.

Syntermed will market the application as SyncTool as part of its Emory Cardiac Toolbox software suite. The product has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
