A 5.8% increase in second-quarter revenue wasn't enough to bring profitability to nuclear medicine vendor Digirad.
For the period (end-June 30), the Poway, CA-based firm had record revenues of $19.9 million, up from $18.8 million in the second quarter of 2007. The company reported a net loss of $1.2 million, down from a net income of $238,000 a year ago.
In quarterly highlights, the company's Digirad Imaging Solutions (DIS) business produced a 7% revenue gain, climbing from $13.3 million to $14.2 million. Digirad attributed the growth to the addition of ultrasound services and growth in both nuclear and ultrasound services in areas surrounding its DIS centers of influence.
