Eden Radioisotopes has selected Kiewit Nuclear Solutions as its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner for a planned medical isotope production facility in Lea County, NM.
The State of New Mexico will support Eden's planned investment of up to $1.4 billion through the Job Training Incentive Program, high-wage and rural job tax credits, and Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) Share. The project is expected to create 205 jobs and generate more than $1.5 billion in economic impact over 10 years, Eden said. Sargent & Lundy will continue supporting the project with architecture, engineering, and regulatory services.
Eden filed its Construction Permit Application with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in May 2026 and anticipates a formal NRC decision in mid-2027, with commercial operations expected in 2030. The facility is described as North America's first purpose-built medical isotope production reactor and processing facility, and will produce isotopes for diagnostic imaging and targeted cancer treatment, Eden said.
The reactor technology is based on research developed at Sandia National Laboratories.
