Philips Medical Systems is displaying a number of new cardiac imaging products at this week's American College of Cardiology meeting in Chicago.
In CT, Philips will be highlighting its new cardiovascular CT scanning and analysis tools, which include stenosis analysis, left ventricle/right ventricle analysis and function, stent planning, and virtual angioscopy, according to the Andover, MA-based vendor.
Among MR highlights, Philips will show the latest version of its Intera CV 1.5-tesla scanner, which now includes the firm's ViewForum multimodality workstation software. The new Intera CV also features enhanced coronary artery imaging capabilities that enable faster scanning, higher contrast-to-noise ratio, and improved vessel image sharpness, Philips said. Philips is also highlighting new Nova gradients with 66 mT/m, as well as an advanced cardiac MR package and cardiac performance package.
The firm is also demonstrating its BV Pulsera high-end mobile C-arm, suitable for cardiovascular and surgical applications. A new "movement-stopping" pulsed fluoroscopy features allows for optimal fluoroscopic guidance for catheter and guide-wire positioning, Philips said.
In ultrasound, Philips has released version 2.0 of its QLAB advanced quantification software, which is designed for diagnostic ultrasound research.
The company has also formed an alliance with healthcare solutions organization Aspen Healthcare Metrics. The two firms will co-develop and provide programs that enhance clinical service lines, Philips said.
In other news, the vendor has formed a cardiovascular care business team that will use an integrated, multimodality approach to develop new products and technologies for cardiovascular professionals, according to the firm. In the team's first initiative, a global cardiovascular advisory board has been formed. The advisory board, which will help to define, refine, and shape Philips products, will include representatives from cardiac institutions around the world, Philips said.
