Hitachi to roll out new Ascent OS

Hitachi Medical Systems America plans to release a new operating system for its Altaire open MR imaging system. Ascent 4.7 features new vascular imaging capabilities, including shorter TE and TR, peak arterial enhancing K-space (PEAKS) ordering for increased arterial vessel conspicuity, and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) features that eliminate the need for peripheral pulse gating, according to the Twinsburg, OH-based firm.

Ascent 4.7 includes a combination of software and hardware enhancements, and enables the use of faster imaging sequences that minimize the opportunity for patient motion and resultant artifacts, Hitachi said. The system's accelerated reconstruction performance also enhances Hitachi's Scaleable Dual Quad multiple-array RF technology option, according to the vendor.

Ascent 4.7 is available at no charge to customers enrolled in Hitachi's Ultra Plus customer assurance program, as well as to new Altaire customers.
