Medical imaging developer MicroMRI of West Philadelphia, PA, has received a small business innovation research phase I + phase II fast-track grant from the National Cancer Institute. The grant is milestone-based and totals $4 million over four years, the firm said.
The funding will be used for a multicenter study aimed at bringing microscopic imaging technology for MRI scanners, or virtual bone biopsy (VBB), into the clinical arena. VBB is an assessment tool for bone quality that measures trabecular bone microstructure in vivo, the company said.
The multicenter trial is scheduled to begin this month, MicroMRI said.
