Siemens Medical Solutions has received a U.S. parent for cardiac MR self-gating, a technology designed to eliminate the need to obtain an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal during imaging.
Developed with partners from Northwest University and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, the software extracts cardiac motion information from MR data, eliminating the need for wires and electrodes to be attached to the patient, according to the Malvern, PA-based vendor.
