Healthcare lighting developer Sunnex of Natick, MA, has installed its Celestial Star MRI surgical light system at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD.
The NIH facility installed the system in an intraoperative MRI suite that is the site of spinal cord surgeries, craniotomies, craniectomies, and other research and neurosurgical procedures. The facility is part of a collaborative effort between the NIH Clinical Center, the National Cancer Institute, and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
The Celestial Star system can be installed in the ceiling of an imaging suite, and is designed to provide high-intensity lighting of up to 6,000 foot-candles for surgical procedures.
