MR firm Time Medical (TiMed) of Metuchen, NJ, has introduced its high-temperature superconductor (HTS) coil, designed to improve the image quality of low-field MRI images.
TiMed believes that HTS increases the resolution of a 0.3-tesla MR scanner to that of a 1.5-tesla machine, without increasing the strength of the magnetic field, according to the company.
TiMed said it's also developing a 3-tesla, head-only MRI system featuring the HTS coil and technology. The system is expected to be ready in 2009.
