Accuray wins $17 million Japanese contract

Image-guided radiosurgery developer Accuray has received a contract worth more than $17 million to upgrade all 22 CyberKnife Systems in Japan to the most current worldwide configuration of the CyberKnife System.

In addition, the firm has filed an application for a new Shonin (medical device approval) with the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare (MHLW) for continued Japanese regulatory clearance. The new application reflects ongoing product enhancements. MHLW’s approval will enable the CyberKnife System sites to continue operation. Upgraded CyberKnife Systems will be available for installation as soon as the Shonin is approved, according to the Sunnyvale, CA-based vendor.
