Varian reports first clinical use of robotic imager

Varian Medical Systems said that Emory University School of Medicine's department of radiology has become the first U.S. healthcare facility to provide radiotherapy treatments using its robotic on-board imaging system for tracking tumor locations and positioning patients.

Emory clinicians have treated seven patients with image-guided radiation therapy using Varian's new On-Board Imager accessory and a Clinac linear accelerator, according to the Palo Alto, CA-based vendor.
