Radiation oncology firm Elekta of Stockholm has inked a radiation therapy systems deal with a Louisiana cancer center, the company announced.
Elekta will supply Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center with nine of its Synergy digital linear accelerator systems, allowing the center to expand its capacity to perform image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) at its three Louisiana locations in Baton Rouge, Hammond, and Covington. The center also is building a fourth location in Gonzales.
Each of the systems will include Elekta's 3D x-ray volume imaging technique, and some will include its volumetric intensity-modulated arc therapy software, the company said.
