TomoTherapy to buy Japanese distributor

Radiation therapy firm TomoTherapy of Madison, WI, has signed a deal to buy sales and service assets of the Japanese distributor for its Hi-Art treatment system.

Hi-Art Co. has distributed the TomoTherapy system in Japan since 2004. TomoTherapy said it is making the acquisition as a sign of its commitment to current and future Japanese customers.

The deal is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter, at which time the current distribution agreement between the firms will cease.
