Institute awards radiation therapy grants

The Radiation Oncology Institute has selected two recipients to receive grants for projects examining the comparative value of radiation therapy.

Dr. David Sher from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center will receive a $200,000 grant. His project will compare transoral surgery with radiation therapy and concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with oropharyngeal cancer.

Meanwhile, Dr. Anand Shah of Columbia University Medical Center will receive a $40,000 grant for his work on stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) versus surgery for patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
