
Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems posted a 6% drop in revenue but higher net earnings for its first fiscal quarter of 2021.
For the period (end-January 1), total revenue amounted to $779 million, compared with revenue of $829 million during the same period in 2020. Lower sales in the company's Oncology Systems division contributed to the dip: The division produced sales of $744 million in the quarter, down 5% from sales in the first quarter of 2020.
Varian's net earnings for the first fiscal quarter were $97 million. The company's earnings were $88 million during the same period in 2020.
