GE HealthCare intends to expand its radiation oncology portfolio with the addition of Spectronic Medical’s software for MR radiotherapy workflows.
Spectronic's U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k)-cleared and CE-marked MRI Planner software is designed to enable MR-only radiotherapy workflows, according to GE. The product converts standard MR images of the brain, head-neck, and pelvis into synthetic CT images required for radiation treatment planning.
The technology add-on is expected to complement other GE HealthCare solutions for MR-guided radiotherapy workflows. These include AIR RT Coil Suite, and AI-based applications such as AIR Recon DL for improved image quality and MR Contour DL for organ at risk segmentation, GE noted in an announcement, introducing the now FDA 510(k) cleared MR Contour DL product.
GE's new MR Contour DL is capable of segmenting 37 organs and structures in the head-neck and pelvic regions based on standard 2D or 3D MR image datasets, according to GE, and will be integrated into the iRT digital solution for radiation therapy workflow management.
