Analogic subsidiary B-K Medical introduced its Viking 2400 premium ultrasound system at this week's Euroson 2003 congress in Copenhagen, Denmark. Viking 2400 includes specialized transducers for surgery, urology, and other specialized applications, according to the Herlev, Denmark-based vendor.
It also features digital filtering, extended aperture technology, and parallel quad-beam signal processing, B-K said. Viking 2400 supports scanning frequencies of one to 20 MHz.
In other B-K news, the company also debuted two new transducers at Euroson 2003. The company’s new 2050 probe is a 360º transducer that includes built-in 3-D capability and offers a scanning frequency of 6 to 16 MHz.
Another new probe, 8809, is suitable for difficult-to-access areas in vascular, surgical, and musculoskeletal applications. It offers resolution of 15 MHz, and supports electronically steerable Doppler capability, according to the vendor. It includes a puncture guide that follows the flexible tip of the transducer, a feature useful in ultrasound-guided interventional procedures such as biopsies and precise therapeutic injections, B-K said.
