SonoSite launches S-GYN system

Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite has launched its new S-GYN system, designed for gynecologists who want to perform imaging for diagnosis and procedural guidance in the patient exam room.

The system features SonoSite's proprietary SonoHD and SonoMB technologies for imaging common gynecologic problems and guiding interventional procedures, according to the Bothell, WA-based company.

A small footprint allows the system to fit easily beside a patient examining table, and it can be ceiling- or wall-mounted to save space. The S-GYN is configured to use the C60x abdominal and ICTx transvaginal transducers, and comes with a five-year warranty, which covers the system and transducers. SonoSite also offers training and education programs delivered onsite, online, and in collaboration with leading medical institutions and educators.

SonoSite plans to begin customer shipments before the end of 2008.
