Solis enrolls patients for ABUS study

Solis Women's Health of Austin, TX, has joined a national clinical study designed to evaluate automated breast ultrasound (ABUS).

The goal of the study is to determine whether digital mammography, when combined with the somo.v ABUS system from Sunnyvale, CA-based U-Systems, is more sensitive in detecting breast lesions than mammography alone in women with dense breasts, the company said.

Solis is the first center in Southern California and is one of 11 breast cancer centers in the U.S. currently participating in the somo-InSIGHT clinical study, according to Solis.

The somo-InSIGHT study will enroll up to 20,000 women at clinical sites in the U.S. Eligible candidates will receive both mammography and somo.v ABUS exams, Solis said.
