Suros Surgical Systems has introduced a new needle guide for use with its ATEC (Automated Tissue Excision and Collection) breast biopsy and excision system. The guide is designed to work with ATEC devices mounted on stereotactic biopsy tables manufactured by Lorad of Danbury, CT.
Designed to handle the problem of needle-tip deflection with vacuum-assisted biopsy devices, the needle guide captures the ATEC needle’s shaft in a 360º radius, according to the Indianapolis-based vendor. Suros believes this capability minimizes the possibility of needle deflection, which often affects post-fire needle accuracy.
Suros already markets needle guides that work with ATEC devices for stereotactic tables from Fischer Imaging of Denver and Instrumentarium Imaging of Milwaukee.
