Hologic reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenues of $52.4 million, up 9% compared with the $48.2 million turned in during the same period last year.
For the quarter (end-September 27), the Bedford, MA-based vendor had net income of $2.6 million, compared with a net loss of $3.2 million last year.
In fourth quarter highlights, Hologic installed 27 of its Selenia full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems. By segment, Hologic booked mammography revenues of $23.1 million, up 14% from the $20.3 million last year. Operating income climbed from $892,000 to $2.4 million.
Osteoporosis assessment revenues grew from $15.8 million last year to $18.2 million, a 15% gain. Operating income also advanced, climbing from $1.7 million to $2.9 million.
Digital imaging revenues, dipped 3% however, dropping from $6.4 million last year to $6.2 million. Hologic’s operating loss reached $3.1 million, up from an operating loss of $3 million last year.
Mini-C-arm revenues also dropped 10%, falling from $4.1 million to $3.7 million. Operating income from this segment was $249,000, down from $821,000 in the same period a year ago.
General radiography revenues declined 24.2% from $1.5 million to $1.2 million. The unit produced operating income of $188,000, compared with operating income of $762,000 a year ago.
For the year, Hologic had revenues of $204 million, up 7.3% compared with fiscal 2002 revenues of $190.2 million. The vendor had net income of $2.9 million, compared with net income of $179,000 last year.
