Siemens Medical Solutions plans to feature Novation DR, its full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system. The Malvern, PA-based company received FDA clearance for the device in August, and expects to have 25 installed by the end of 2004.
Novation DR boasts a 24 x 29-cm flat panel amorphous selenium digital detector, and is bundled with MammoReportPlus, Siemens' primary read workstation. The system can also be used with Opdima MA, Siemens' dedicated digital spot imaging system, and with the Mammotome biopsy device from Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Ethicon Endo-Surgery.
The company will also highlight Novation's CAD compatibility with products from vendors such as R2 Technology, iCAD, and PenRad. Siemens is working on agreements to package those vendors' CAD products with Siemens' digital systems, and hopes to receive FDA clearance for use of CAD technology with Novation by the end of 2004.
