Dear Business and Industry Insider,
A Dutch company isn't playing around when it comes to medical applications for 3D technology. The firm is leveraging recent advances in computer gaming to develop new 3D software that will offer advanced image visualization on off-the-shelf PCs.
The company, 3mensio, has developed 3D software that relies on a computer's graphics processing unit (GPU) rather than its CPU for processing power. This takes advantage of recent advances in GPU technology that have been driven by the graphics-intensive game industry, enabling the firm to use less expensive PCs as a hardware platform.
Although it's a new company, 3mensio also has an impressive pedigree thanks to the medical imaging backgrounds of several of its founders. Find out who they are, and learn more about the company's technology, in this month's Insider Exclusive, available by clicking here.
Another article we're featuring in the Business & Industry Digital Community this month is a story on the recent growth of professional services consulting in the PACS industry.
