Dear AuntMinnie Member,
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has stunned the world. As shocking reports roll in of fierce combat in Eastern Europe, Ukrainian radiologists have reached out to Philip Ward, editor-in-chief of our sister site AuntMinnieEurope.com, to share their stories of life in a war zone.
Some Ukrainian radiologists have joined the hundreds of thousands of refugees by fleeing to neighboring countries in the wake of the Russian assault. Others have stayed put and are enduring bombardments, while some reporting from western Ukraine pensively say that things are quiet -- for now.
Phil's sobering article was our top story of the week. Please stay tuned as we file more reports of the crisis in Ukraine and how it affects the global radiology community.
The latest from ECR 2022 Overture
Elsewhere in Europe, the ECR 2022 Overture has been underway for the past several days. The meeting is a virtual version of the conference that usually takes place in Vienna, Austria, in March, with the in-person version of ECR 2022 pushed to July.
Even in the virtual format, ECR 2022 Overture has maintained ECR's reputation as a showcase of high-quality clinical research and educational content. For example, several key opinion leaders debated what it will be like to be a radiologist in 2030 in a thought-provoking discussion on March 2.
CT angiography can be a safe alternative to invasive coronary angiography, according to another ECR 2022 Overture presentation that was also published simultaneously in the New England Journal of Medicine. And in a March 3 presentation, researchers behind the Hypmed project discuss their effort to develop an MRI-friendly PET surface coil to enable hybrid PET/MRI breast imaging scans in conventional MRI systems.
We'll continue to provide coverage of ECR 2022 Overture in weeks to come.
Virtual conference
Speaking of virtual conferences, we're reprising our popular virtual conference format on March 30-31 with AuntMinnie's Spring 2022 Virtual Conference: AI, Women's Health, and More. We've assembled a stellar lineup of key opinion leaders for the meeting -- you can register now for free.
