Surgical visualization and navigation developer Cbyon of Mountain View, CA, has received U.S. patents for its device and process for volumetric calibration of an endoscopic field of view with respect to the tracking element on the endoscope. The technology synchronizes live video endoscopic images with information obtained from patient imaging data. According to the firm, the technology augments endoscopic procedures by providing "see-through" capability, which should permit broader use of endoscopic techniques and minimally invasive surgical applications
