Norway-based Cyviz is introducing 3-D projectors that, when used with the company’s stereo 3-D converters, give viewers a 3-D view of images produced with standard 3-D software. Cyviz said customers are using the system for computer-assisted surgery.
The system works by converting a stereo 3-D signal to two monitor signals, one for each eye. The signals are then routed to two stacked SXGA projectors, which project images in register. To attain a 3-D effect, a polarized filter is fitted in front of the lens on each projector, and the images are viewed through polarized 3-D glasses.
