Italian ultrasound vendor Esaote has formed a distribution partnership with Smiths Medical MD. Under the four-year deal, Smiths Medical MD of London will serve as the exclusive distributor of the Genoa-based firm's Piccolo vascular access ultrasound system in the U.S. and Canada.
Designed for ultrasound guidance to assist the placement of needles and catheters in vascular or other anatomical structures, Piccolo weighs less than 2 lb, Esaote said. Distribution is expected to begin in the fourth quarter.
